Daniel L. Schwartz is Associate Professor of History and affiliate faculty with the Religious Studies Program.  He is the director of Syriaca.org and the editor of Syriaca.org’s SPEAR project (Syriac Persons, Events, and Relations), an online prosopographical research tool.  He is the author of Paideia and Cult: Christian Initiation in Theodore of Mopsuestia and the editor, with Neil McLynn and Arietta Papaconstantinou, of the forthcoming Conversion in Late Antiquity: Christianity, Islam, and Beyond.  His work has also appeared in the Journal of Early Christian Studies.  He is currently working on a book on crowds in Late Antiquity.
